The Fernando González Bernáldez Foundation – FUNGOBE, with the collaboration of EUROPARC-Spain, coordinates the LIFE RedBosques_Clima project, which was presented on the 1st of March in Valencia thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat Valenciana.
More than a hundred professionals, technicians of natural areas and forest managers attended the project presentation, and as many people were able to follow the event in real time via online streaming. After the official opening, two scientific-technical presentations were given. Patricio García-Fayos, from the Department of Ecology and Global Change, Desertification Research Centre – CIDE, gave the paper “Our forests: topics, predictions and tools”. Antoni Marzo i Pastor, former director of the Centre for Forestry Research and Experimentation (CIEF), focused his speech on the adaptation of Valencian reforestation to climate change.

José Antonio Atauri, technical coordinator of the project, explained the key actions. Over the next four years, the project will work on developing a standard for the design of forest adaptation actions, applying it in three pilot areas and will have a strong emphasis on the dissemination and replication of the results.
The round table, announced under the project’s slogan – natural solutions for forest adaptation to climate change – was attended by the technicians involved in the project: Jordi Vayreda, from the Centre de Recerca Ecològica i Aplicacions Forestals (CREAF); Josep Sabaté, from the Parc Natural dels Ports, Direcció General de Polítiques Ambientals i Medi Natural de la Generalitat de Catalunya; Gloria Romero, from the Dirección General de Medio Natural y Evaluación Ambiental de la Generalitat Valenciana; Carlos Serrano, from the Directorate General of Natural Environment and Biodiversity of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha; and José Luis Atutxa, from the Directorate of Natural Heritage and Climate Change of the Basque Government.
