From 6 to 8 November 2024, the Parc Natural dels Ports hosted the fourth technical seminar of the project. Some twenty professionals from the fields of forest management and protected areas participated in the seminar and visited the forest estates participating in the project. In this way, they were able to learn about forest planning tools in the field (forest management projects, herbivory plans and prescribed burning plans) and the implementation of silvicultural treatments aimed at improving adaptation to climate change.
The collaborative work carried out within the seminar’s framework is summarised in the conclusions. Among other aspects, the debate focused on the monetisation of forest ecosystem services, addressing the need to diversify the sources of funding for forest management. In particular, the opportunity represented by the certification of environmental services was analysed. Progress was also made in the discussion on the potential of management aimed at the restoration and conservation of ecological processes as opposed to the management of specific species or habitats.
The conclusions of the 5th RedBosques_Clima Technical Seminar are available in the knowledge transfer section of the project website.
