On June 22, the first in a series of working sessions with policy makers was held in Madrid. On this occasion, professionals from the central and regional administration linked to protected areas, along with representatives from scientific research in forest ecology and fire, were invited.

The purpose of the session was to share arguments and strategies to strengthen the role of protected areas in the context of social debate due to the recent significant impact of risks arising from climate change, especially large forest fires.
